My friend and I have been together for 10 yrs and we have a son. She is his biological mother but I have been taking care of him since birth. I need to know how will I be able to travel to Florida with him without his biological mother? Please advise. Also what do I need to do?

you will need to get notorized papers from an attorney stating that you would be the legal guardian for however long you would need them to be traveling. then a medical paper stating that you have been given permission to have him treated in case anything goes wron like an accident or something. his real mother would need to sign everything too. but your local states attorney or any attorney shoulkd be able to draw up some documents as far as what you needed. you would need copy of birth records and SS# and a photo ID
I took my nieces & nephews on vacations often before I had kids of my own. I didn’t do anything special before travelling with them & never had to explain myself or our relationship at all. If you are worried about the potential need for medical care, you might want to get your partner to sign (and have notarized) a note saying that you are allowed to seek medical care for the child if she can’t be reached.
you have to get a special power of atorney from the mother
Does the child have your last name?
You can go get an order granting you power of attorney or temporary guardian ad litem and that should suffice.
You could probably travel with the child anyway without any problems. Just tell anyone who asks that it’s your son.
Does the mother know you’re taking him? Are you planning on kidnapping this child? I just had to ask…
written consent for you to get medical treatment notarized of course.
Have her write up a general consent form including permission to have your son and permission to authorize any medical treatment. Have her have the letter notorized and keep that with you and you shouldn’t have any trouble.
You need written promisen from his mom, or you need to get married to his mom and legelly adopt him before travelling.
Childs identification, medical cards, and note from the mother.
I assume from your comments that the biological father has been uninvolved. You only need the permission of his mother to take him to Florida, in that case. You should also have her write a note indicating that you can act in her stead in the event of an emergency until she can be reached (notorized). Of course, if the child is in a life-threatening situation, doctors can act anyway, without parental permission, but it helps.
Where are you traveling from????
You might need the child documents and the mothers permition,I am not sure but I think you might need to go to a police office to get more information about it.
You need to be his legal tutor or have a letter from his mother allowing you to do that and signed by a public officer competent on that issue
